Francisco’s Cantina Restaurant has left its mark in North Canton for years. Located on Whipple Ave, this restaurant is sure to provide guests with classic, traditional Mexican flavors. From their signature house-made guacamole to freshly prepared tacos, Francisco’s Cantina is sure to offer something for everyone. Before I even tasted the food, the first thing that stood out to me was how kind the workers were. I could tell they treated each and every guest with good service and a smile.
The first thing I ordered was their Guacamole Cantinero sprinkled with cilantro, tomatoes, onions and jalapenos, and that was delicious. The texture of the guacamole was perfect and with a hint of lime, this was one of the best guacamole recipes I have ever tried. That combined with a bag of their tortilla chips was a dream combination. Fresh out of the fryer, the chips were warm and crispy, the exact way I like them. Before even tasting the other dishes I got, I knew that if I was ever in need of a good guacamole, I would surely return to Francisco’s.
Next, I ordered their Tacos de Asada which were three soft corn tortillas filled with flank steak, topped with cilantro and lime, and overall, these weren’t my favorite. I have come to discover that I do not like corn tortillas from this meal and the steak was dry and didn’t have much flavor. Although I may not have liked the tacos, I always enjoy the lime slices that they come served with. This order came with more than just the tacos, being served with their signature rice and salsa picosa on the side. Whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant, the thing I always look forward to is the rice and at Francisco’s, the rice was so good and flavorful, containing a few vegetables, making it even more delicious. Regarding the salsa, the taste of tomatoes, lime and onion was impeccable. I also love spicy food, so when the jalapenos made it spicy, it made it even more enjoyable.
One of the best parts of this restaurant is the portion sizes for the price. I paid $20 for my entire meal and it came with enough food for two people to eat a good amount. Especially today, students such as myself don’t have lots of money, so to be able to get good quality food for a reasonable price was a shocking, but delightful surprise.
Francisco’s Cantina Restaurant is a decent restaurant for tacos, but an incredible restaurant for appetizers and sides. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to people if they are in need of a tasty, cost-friendly meal. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite with friends or looking to share a variety of appetizers, Francisco’s Cantina offers flavorful options that make the experience enjoyable and satisfying.

Located on Whipple Avenue, “Francisco’s Cantina Restaurant” is a must for your Mexican cuisine craving. With both dine in and take out options you can pick what best works for you. I decided to take out and after looking at the online menu I picked the Tacos Mixtecos. It came with 3 soft corn tortillas filled with steak, chorizo, pico de gallo, and a lime on top. The meal came with a side of rice and chips and salsa.
The tacos were tasty, but not the best tacos I’ve ever had. The steak was incredibly tender, and the corn tortillas weren’t soggy, which was a worry I had doing the take out option. The tacos seemed small, but after eating all three it felt like the perfect amount of food for the main entree. The rice, though it looked dry, was moist and incredibly tasty. I am a huge rice connoisseur, and it lived up to my standards, and I appreciated the large serving. On to the chips and salsa. This was a surprise as I did not originally know it was part of the meal. The chips were delicious and warm. You could tell they were homemade which to me is very important, and they shouldn’t make any amendments to their recipe anytime soon. The salsa paired well with the chips and made the meal overall a success.
Francisco’s in all was a great experience. Down to service and food, you’ll be taken care of well if you choose to take a trip there, which I highly recommend.
