Meet Trinity Seth, an outstanding senior at Hoover High School, known for her dedication to her academics and involvement in school activities. Seth is a part of many clubs that Hoover has to offer, often holding a leadership position. She has also been dedicated to Orchestra since fourth grade, performing in musicals and concerts throughout her high school career. She tells us about all of the activities she is involved in.
“I am the President of ASL [American Sign Language] Club, Co-Social Media Chair of Teen Institute, Student Council (Executive Board and Class VP), Agape Girls, Leadership Club, Spanish Club, Link Crew, NHS and Chamber, Full and String Orchestra,” she said.
Seth’s involvement in these clubs and organizations has opened the door to numerous new opportunities and friendships beyond the school district. Through ASL Club and Spanish Club, she was able to learn new skills and have amazing adventures.
“They introduced me to many different people and experiences,” she said. “Through the Spanish Club, I traveled to Peru last summer and learned an entirely new culture, saw amazing sights and grew close with people I would not have otherwise. Every year, ASL Club hosts a Deaf Christmas party, and I was able to meet many people in the Deaf community. Also, I was able to interpret for the school musical through ASL Club.”
Seth has played a big role in ASL Club and has worked hard to improve her signing skills. ASL II and III teacher, Mrs. Susan Cammel, talks about how she has seen Seth grow in her sign language abilities and knowledge of Deaf culture.
“Her details in her signing are awesome, mature, and very culturally aware,” she said. “She can easily sign in full conversations. She is more natural in her usage of ASL.”
Mrs. Cammel has been quite impressed with Seth’s ASL capabilities, but one area in particular stood out to her. She tells us more about this specific accomplishment.
“Her leadership at the Deaf Christmas party was a truly proud moment, as she represented not just Hoover but Hoover’s ASL program with her ASL skills and Deaf Culture knowledge,” she said.
Seth has had many family members, teachers and friends who have supported her and pushed her to be the best version of herself. She shared specifically how certain people impacted her high school years.
“My family has always had a huge impact on me as they push me to strive for my best work,” she said. “Also, many teachers have had a big impact as well. To name a few: Mrs. Furlong, Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Varn, Mr. Wood, Mrs Medley and Mr. Heasley! My best friend Bella has also had a huge impact!”
Spanish teacher and Spanish club advisor, Mrs. Johnson, has been one of Seth’s top supporters. During the trip to Peru last summer, Johnson saw how much of a role model Seth was to the people around her.
“When we went to Peru last summer, Trinity made it a point to talk to everyone, including the adults on the trip,” she said. “She got to know people on a deeper level and made connections with everyone – even our tour guide! I think as her peers watched her do this, they felt like they could then step out of their comfort zones and meet new people / have new conversations, too.”
Johnson not only knows Seth through the Spanish Club, but also because of Seth’s involvement with Teen Institute, which promotes a drug-free and alcohol-free lifestyle for high school students. Johnson is the adviser of Teen Institute at Hoover.
“Her work in Teen Institute has been phenomenal,” she said. “She is dedicated to her beliefs and helps to spread the word to younger generations in our community. She’s helped me a ton when it comes to creating content and posting to socials. She’s been a huge piece of growing Teen Institute into a group that lots of students are proud to be a part of.”
Besides working extremely hard to keep on top of her academics and stay involved in many clubs, Seth has also had unforgettable adventures with friends. She tells us more about some of her most memorable experiences.
“Some of my best high school memories would have to be the trips I’ve gone on through the school,” she said. “First, in my sophomore year, the orchestra and band went to Disney and Universal! I got to play in front of the Rock and Roll Cafe and had a blast with my friends! This year, I took the Marine Biology course and traveled to the Bahamas for a week! This was the best trip ever; I got to swim with sharks, turtles, stingrays and more! I also got incredibly close with the people in the class and made lifelong friends! Other fun high school memories would be going to football games with friends, going to BJ’s for a pizookie, and Sheetz runs with my best friend, Bella!”
Seth’s commitment and dedication to her academics do not stop after high school, as she has big plans for her future.
“I will be attending The Ohio State University this fall,” Seth said. “I plan to major in Audiology/Speech Pathology. Also, I am considering double majoring or minoring in something environmental-related and possibly taking a gap year or semester to intern somewhere out of the country.”
Seth strived to make Hoover High School a better place every day. She leaves us with a final piece of advice for all current and future High School students.
“I would advise someone to get involved and take every opportunity you are offered,” she said. “Join all of the clubs you want to and go to all of the school events (sports, musicals, concerts, etc). You never know where it could lead or who you could meet!”
