After five long years, Jace Norman, more commonly known as Henry Hart or Kid Danger, put his eye mask and Kid Danger uniform on again. On January 17, 2025 Henry Danger: The Movie released on Paramount Plus. Henry Danger the television series was on air from 2014 to 2020 and the entire cast left big impacts on every viewer who watched. After the last episode of Henry Danger aired in 2020, it didn’t take long for a spinoff to hit the big screen. Danger Force was on air for three seasons and ended in February 2024. Danger Force didn’t star Jace Norman as Kid Danger, which is most likely the reason as to why the show didn’t last long. Cooper Barnes who plays Captain Man starred in both shows and kept the Dangerverse spirit going but it just wasn’t the same without Jace Norman. In 2022, it was announced that Jace Norman would be returning to Nickelodeon to film this movie and three years later, it was released.
After watching the movie, I’m not sure how to feel. It was definitely not what I expected. I went into this movie without knowing much about the plot but I had assumptions as to what the story would entail. I was not expecting Henry and Jasper to be arguing in the beginning because they had always been best friends. The most disappointing part of the movie though was when Henry got trapped inside a superfan’s fanfictions, which also happened to be the plot of the movie. Throughout the entire movie he was traveling from story to story with this superfan trying to find Shwaz, a technology genius who was in Henry Danger, to fix the machine that got them stuck in this alternate reality. I watched them jump from story to story with nothing exciting going on. I looked at how much time I had left of the movie and when I saw that there was 20 minutes left and there still hadn’t been a climax in the story, I was incredibly disappointed. It feels as though all the different universes made him learn his lesson about how badly he had been treating Jasper, because the first thing he did when he got back to reality was make up with Jasper and apologize for how he’d been acting. It felt like the movie had a deeper meaning but it wasn’t very strongly expressed.
On multiple occasions throughout the movie, I felt like I was back in my eight year old body sitting on the couch with my brother, begging to watch one more episode of Henry Danger. The most enjoyable parts of this film were the parts where I understood a reference or a character from the television series. This really made the movie more personable and enjoyable to watch. Speaking of characters, even though they brought back some unexpected actors, one of the people I expected to be in this the most alongside Jace Norman was Cooper Barnes but to my surprise he had very little screen time right at the end and was considered a guest star. This disappointed me a lot because the entire point of the show was for Kid Danger and Captain Man to be fighting Swellview’s crimes, so when none of that really occurred, I was incredibly disappointed. Now even though Captain Man made a small appearance, the ending with him and Henry made me think that there could be a sequel movie, which could have more of the traditional feel to it, that really makes previous viewers feel like they time travelled back to 2017.
For longtime Henry Danger fans, this movie will most likely not live up to your expectations but I still have hope for the future of the Danger Verse and believe they will come back stronger than ever.
