What inspired you to start playing basketball, and how has that motivation evolved over the years?
I think just being around my dad and watching him play as I grew up. He was really good so I think it’s just me living up to his standards.
How does it feel to be an underclassman playing at the varsity level, and what challenges have you faced in this role?
It feels good. I’ve definitely gotten used to playing people 2-3 years older than me. I think just my size and being smaller than most people I play against.
What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned from your older teammates on the varsity team?
The biggest lesson I learned from them was to not put my head down. Always keep my head up especially because I’m still so young and I have a lot going for me.
How do you see your role on the team, and how do you contribute to its success both on and off the court?
I see my rule on the team as being a leader and helping guys that I see struggle on and off the court.
What aspect of your game are you most proud of, and what specific skills are you working to improve?
I think my ability to shoot the ball and finish under pressure. I need to work on handling the ball better when being guarded up close.
What does a typical training or practice session look like for you, and how do you stay motivated to push yourself?
First I’ll get up shots to warm up and then stretch a bit then do team stuff and lift after. Then I usually get shots up after practice. I try to keep myself motivated and keep myself pushing every day.
What has been the most memorable moment in your basketball career so far, and why?
I think playing varsity as a freshman and hitting all the game winners I did last year. It was just a cool moment and a good win for us.
Is there a particular game or play that you feel define your abilities as a varsity player?
This year at the St. Ed’s game. I had 32 and displayed all my talent off that I could that game to secure the win for my team.
What are your short-term and long-term goals in basketball, and how do you plan to achieve them?
My short term goal for this season is to get the Federal League MVP. A long-term goal I have is to go D1 to play in college.
Who are your biggest influences or role models in basketball, and how have they shaped your approach to the game?
One of my biggest role models is my dad because he pushes me to be 1 percent better everyday and continues to uplift me when I’m at my lowest.
