The annual Met Gala is a charity event and fundraiser for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, which usually raises about 8 figures and holds about 450 red carpet attendees. The tickets this year were $75,000, which is a huge increase compared to previous years. The 2024 Met Gala happened on Monday, May 6, in New York City, hosted by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth. Emma Chamberlain made a reappearance as “Vogue’s” special correspondent to interview some of the biggest stars that attended. The Met Gala celebrated the Costume Institute’s new display, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” This exhibition featured about 250 items which were pulled from the Costume Institute’s collection.
The dress code for the Met Gala was “The Garden of Time,” which was inspired by J.G Ballad’s short story. In charge of the Costume Institute was Andrew Bolton. He noted that the exhibition will have three areas: Land, Sea, and Sky, “It is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion.” Actress Gwendoline Christie, producer and actor La La Anthony and model Ashley Graham walked the carpet. At the Met Gala, guests must follow the strict no-phones policy. If you missed the Met Gala, you can watch it on the 2024 Met Gala live stream on “Vogue.com.” If you keep up with pop culture and fashion, you definitely won’t want to miss these eye-catching looks.
